Mohave Desert National Preserve

We heard word that some fulltime families were meeting up in the Mohave Desert National Park and since it was the first chance for us to meet like minded people we decided to give it a try. We passed the last town, then the last gas station with $5 a gallon gas and $14 a gallon milk. We drove down 10 miles of washboard road to a campground with no hookups but for $10 a night and almost decent cell coverage.

And just a few hours later Betty was filled with kids laughing and parents talking, we had campfire after campfire and huddled next to an electric heater when the fire wood was gone but we were still talking. We admired the millions and millions of stars, only obstructed by the glow of Las Vegas and hiked the desert together. Pumpkin Pies and Brownies and Beer and Coffee were shared and when everyone finally left we decided it won’t be too long until we meet again.

Now, this life feels much better than everything we had before that. We needed this last year to get used to this life, to survive a move to a different country, a pregnancy, the addition of another baby and the development of a toddler. And now it feels like we’re ready to live by those opportunities, to make the very best of this life on the road.
